A Piece of History
The Tokemaster design traces its origins back to the early 1960s in Southeast Asia. During the Vietnam War, a U.S. soldier encountered the bamboo bong, introduced by local residents. This simple yet effective design featured a straight bamboo tube with an angled stem and bowl, delivering extremely powerful hits. In Asia, straight tube bongs made from bamboo hold significant cultural importance, particularly within the rich traditions of Thai and Vietnamese cultures. The term 'Bong' itself originates from the Thai language, dating back to the 14th century, where it means tube. After the war, that U.S. soldier returned to Delaware with a bamboo bong. Along with friends, he envisioned a new concept—crafting a bong from clear acrylic and naming it The Tokemaster. They began selling these innovative bongs along the boardwalk at the New Jersey Shores, quickly capturing popularity. Before long, Tokemaster products adorned the shelves of nearly every smoke shop nationwide, and by the mid-1970s, almost everyone had one. The Tokemaster, proudly known as the Ultimate Bong, is now celebrated as the quintessential perfect bong design of the century.
